Frank Theunissen

Frank Theunissen moved from the Netherlands to South France. He lives with his familiy nearby the medieval pittoresque town Cordes Sur Ciel where he organizes ceramic workshops (www.laceramique.com)
He grew up in a traditional potters family and learnt very early how to handle the clay.
He sells his ceramics all over Europe and is Co-founder of one of the most successful International ceramic markets in the Netherlands.

Wheel throwing| 21th to 25th of February 2012
Frank will discuss the modules for this 5 days workshop with each of you in the beginning. He shows you what you want to learn no matter if you are beginner or advanced. Inbetween the working process he will teach you interesting theory of making pots.
Patricia Cassone

Patricia Cassone lives in France and often travels to her favourite country Japan.
She loves to work in the tradition of japanese pottery, especially the Shino style, which she will explain during the workshop. Her work is inspired by masters of the Tea Ceremony and japanese pottery masters. It is shown in exhibitions in France and Japan.

Dancing vessels | 30th of June to 3rd of July 2012
This workshop will emphasize creative problem solving. Students will explore various methods of making functional and sculptural forms. We can experiment with combinations of hand-built and thrown parts. But throwing is not necessary. There will be daily demonstrations featuring different approaches to handles, spouts, feet and trays. We will look critically at pots to assess form, surface, volume and energy.
We will speak about shino and shino style called SHINO YAKI. And about tea ceremony tools : Chawan, kogo, misusashi, chaire, sushi dish...
And most important, the deal will be ENJOY THE CLAY as the first day we touched it...
Michael Flynn

Michael Flynn was born in Ireland.
He studied Fine Arts and Ceramics.
For some time he lived in the U.S.A. and in Germany.
He makes complex raku and porcelain figures that are full of energy and sinister humour, drawing on many sources of inspiration — theatre and dance, mythology and religion, historic ceramics and sculpture are just some of these.
His work is shown and collected all over the world.

Figures in Movement | 4th to 7th of Oktober 2012
Human figures and their interaction are the main theme of this famous ceramist.
You will model, glaze and fire the figures with Michael Flynns instructions. It is good to have prior knowledge with claywork.
Michael Flynn will show a slide presentation of his work.
